Warm wishes on the Prakash Purab of Guru Nanak Sahib. – Nanakshahi550 - 11th November 2019

November 11, 2019

The entire SikhRI team extends its warm wishes on the Prakash Purab (Illumination Day celebration) of Guru Nanak Sahib.

Our Guru-Baba was not a rationalist philosopher, but the eternal lover, whose life was imbued in the perpetual and eternal love of IkOankar.

What flowed from our Beloved Baba came from this inherent state of love found in unity with IkOankar, which Gurbani describes as sahaj (intuitive, inherent, and natural state of Love).

Our Guru’s response to people’s world-centric and ego-driven behaviors stemmed from this unique way of lovers (bhagta ki chal nirali), which is not taught in any class, but inherently flows from within, springing like a fountain, when the seed of IkOankar’s love sprouts.

May we mark this momentous commemoration by aligning our consciousness with the Gur-Sabad which creates that sahaj in our lives. May we adopt this loving way enabling so that the real celebration can begin; the perpetual celebration that ensues beyond the immediate fervor of festivities, and enters into the realm of infinite love (bhau apar). By immersing ourselves in this love, we can experience Truth, and from here as Sikhs, we practice and continuously craft our justice-oriented principles.

Hindus seek Ganga and Banaras, Muslims seek Mecca-Kaba.

The populace similarly sang of the Baba Nanak with mridang (drum) and rabab (stringed instrument) resounding.

The Divine wonder arrived as an epitome of love and devotion to uplift the fallen.

The all-wise Mentor of the entire humankind has become evident now.

- Bhai Gurdas, 24.4

We seek the Guru’s grace, to become true lovers of IkOankar just like our revered Baba. To live in Truth, to move beyond self.

We seek the Panth’s grace so that we may continue to serve in Light and Love.

With love and gratitude,

The SikhRI Team
