Language of Gurbani – First online course available - 11th September 2014

Sikh Research Institute (SikhRI) will offer its first online course for learning Language of Gurbani; its latest offering on developing a better understanding and appreciation of the languages of Guru Granth Sahib.

The Language of Gurbani serves as an introductory course to major linguistic aspects of Gurbani. It covers major elements of Gurbani language in the form of instructions and discussion through structured short online sessions and offline personal reading and practice on the following:

Language – Language system, Inscribed Elegance (script), Phonology (sound)

Grammar – Parts of speech, inflection categories and case types

The course is based on the text book Guru Granth Sahib – Its Language and Grammar.

2014 TERM COURSE DETAILS:

Registration opens: September 11, 2014

Registration closes: September 25, 2014

Courses start: September 27, 2014

Courses end: October 26, 2014

Course length: 5 weeks, 12 instruction hours (two approximately 60-minute classes each weekend), 24 non

instruction hours including readings and exercises.

Time: 12 pm EDT

Course fee: $199

Program timings are subject to change in order to accommodate majority of the participants.
