Sikh Research Institute is pleased to announce the release of its very first children’s online course on Barah Maha.
Barah Maha provides an opportunity for children to connect with Gurbani. The course exposes children to various Gurbani themes, new vocabulary and Sikh attitude towards nature, life and its real goals. It also encourages children to reflect on and think about their own life and priorities.
Each lesson in the course covers a set of easy objectives followed by an activity to help trigger a thought, feeling or reflection. It encourages individual learning and complements the classroom school education. Barah Maha may become a crucial step in your children’s Sikh education and have a lasting impact on their worldview.
The course is meant for children 11 and above, though adults can equally benefit from it. Since Gurbani can seem too dense for children, it is recommended that parents join them in working through the course. Not only will it help children understand the content better but also benefit the adults and create deeper family bonds.
Barah Maha is a folk poetry style that expresses the emotions and yearnings of the human heart in terms of the changing seasons of Nature, touching on each month of the year. The course is based on the bani of Barah Maha revealed by Guru Nanak Sahib and Guru Arjan Sahib. The Gurus have transformed this folk poetry into a spiritual journey of love. They have explained the connection between a human being and Vahiguru in a way that can be easily understood by everyone.
We hope you and your children will benefit from Barah Maha and develop a deeper desire for the knowledge of Gurbani. Register for the course today.
The course is free for all.
It has been graciously sponsored by Jaskiran Kaur & Harpal Singh living in Dallas, TX, USA.
