Connecting with the Guru - Sikh Research Institute

Connecting with the Guru

Join us this afternoon as we will be working with Teens & Adults in separate workshops. Both Inni Kaur & Harinder Singh will discuss lifestyle, teen struggles/identity in America, family dynamics, & parenting within the scope of living a Guru-centered life.

Teens Workshop - Sikh Teens in America (11:45 AM - 3:45 PM):
- What Connects us to the Guru?
- What Binds us as a sangat?
We will create a space where Sikh teenagers are given the tools to understand Sikh history and values, while also facilitating a dialogue that takes into account the pressure teens face. The sessions are intended to be a safe and welcoming place to ask questions and feel heard. We aim to inspire young Sikhs to lead a Sabad and Guru-oriented lifestyle.

Adults Workshop - Tabbar: Becoming a Guru-Centered Family (4:00 PM - 7:00 PM):
- We create dialogue with adults
- We address how to meet challenges gracefully
Parents and adult caregivers will explore exercises they can do to bring Gurbani alive. Using an elegant Sabad, adults will participate in a discussion on steps they can take to nurture Sikhi attributes and values. The workshop is intended to get adults inspired and ready to take action in their daily lives to create Guru centric households.
