"The Sikh Research Institute provided an opportunity for people to discover what has been under their noses. This … helped me realize there are others, who share the Guru’s vision, as well as confuses and re-align some of my interpretations… "– Ipninder Singh, Madison, WI

"The Sikh Research Institute has obviously put in a lot of time and effort to create programs that will have a significant impact on our community. Programs that create awareness and initiate change are extremely crucial to our success as a Sikh community. We all have to become more educated about our religion and history."
– Satjeet Kaur Nayar, New Providence, NJ

Sidak

"Super exceeded my expectations. Most def[innately], a great experience. I, honestly, learned a lot from disc. And readings. This somewhat, gave me a vision for what I might wasn’t to do with my life! … The instructors and the content provided. Also the sangat and the homely feeling which made it more comfortable to learn. Most importantly, the encouragement to challenge your capability…A lot and a lot and tons of information and strategies… The ability to question whats being taught in a constructive way."
– Gunjiv Singh, LA, CA

"From this experience, I hope to continue to perform shabads and viakhias in my own Gurdwara back at home. Also, I hope to become more active in the Sikh community. My overall impression of Sidak 2009 is that this is a great program … I feel that Sidak and SikhRI is truly a revolution aimed at embracing and preserving the Sikh faith, courage and discipline. In short, I love Sidak 2009."
– Gurneet Kaur Bawa, Potomac, Maryland

"My favorite part about Sidak was the fact that I learned a lot. Being in Gurmukhi 101 has really given me the tools to further my study of Gurbani. This experience has really given me the motivation to be a more active Sikh. Overall, I feel as though this program is life changing – new information, new perspectives, new people."
– Harleen Kaur Jassal, Clifton, VA

"Unlike most camps, Sidak was very leadership oriented and may have put many of the participants outside their “comfort zones” which ultimately allowed them to progress and have a sense of confidence. The Sikhi 101 course mainly focused on Asa Ki Var and in doing so, expanded my vocabulary dramatically. Now, I can understand bani on my own at a much more advanced level than before. After completing Sikhi 101 I feel much more confident in my understanding of Sikhi. Further, I have established such a strong sangat whom I will never forget and gave me support all throughout this work course. "
– Harnek Singh, Richmond, Virginia

"I liked the Aaa ki Vaar and Santhiya classes. Those two classes made it a lot easier for me to directly access the Guru Granth Sahib and im very thankful for that… I feel like the instructors are more than just book smart and well read- they live what they teach us about. That is very hard to find and I consider myself very fortunate to be blessed with such company."
– Jagmeet Hoodini Singh, The Valley, CA

"This was my 3 rd (time) attending Sidak and I must admit that I learned more in a couple of days that I have in one week at a regular Sikh camp. The sangat was very motivating and inspirational. Not only did we all become one big family and have the best time of our lives, we actually learned how to apply our learnings in our daily lives."
– Jaspreet Singh, Granada Hills,California

"… meeting an incredibly accomplished and energetic group of individuals… Positive. Incredible learning experience."
– Mandish Muker , London, UK

"I liked that Sidak is so focused and academically oriented. I feel I learned a lot more than I have at other retreats, camps and at the end of the day that’s what’s really important. I think this program met and exceeded all of my expectations. It was organized, thought provoking and fun…great food too!!!"
– Preetinder Narang, Burnaby, BC, Canada

"Everything I learned- I feel like a different person. I have a much better knowledge base and better idea of what my niche is."
– Sarina Kaur, Hillsborough, CA

"Sidak provided me with an opportunity to not only grow further in my faith but also strengthen my self confidence. Sidak provides each individual with the chance to mature with a caring sangat. I will always remember taking my first Hukam at Sidak! Sidak made me realize that the Guru is closer than I thought and I just need to take the first step in engaging in a relationship. Sidak is an amazing program that combines leadership and Sikh principles in a strong sangat environment. This program has taught me more in two weeks than I have in my whole life. I feel more intone with myself and I will never forget this experience."
– Sharanjit Kaur, Granada Hills, CA

– Jasleen Kaur, Oakville, ON, Canada

"The session it was a breeding ground for empowering ideas that can only come as the fruit of embracing the challenge of genuine introspection. The facilitators did an admirable job of sharing information and questions that led us to think about issues that most of us never consider yet are monumentally important as Sikhs and as human beings. Thank you for all your efforts."
– Anonymous, Mississauga, ON, Canada

"A Wonderful experience. More clarity in thoughts. More motivation to become Guru centred."
– Satwant Singh, Oakville, ON, Canada

"This program was very informative / educational. I did not feel as though I was being preached to, everything discussed was related to things that anyone could understand. It has peaked my interest in Sikhi and the Gurus and makes me want to learn more and progress in my spiritual life. I would definitely recommend the program to others and look forward to attending more programs held by the Sikh Research Institute."
– Birinder Narang, Burnaby, BC, Canada

"This program really benefited me as it wasn’t a boring lecture telling me what to do. It was more my interpretation of Sikhi and it really was thought-provoking. It really made me learn and think that there really is no right or wrong to do with Sikhi, it is your own interpretation. I would definitely recommend this to other as it was very inspiring and as was the main purpose of the program. It has made me think outside the box."
– Prabhjot Kaur Nijjar, Glasgow, Scotland, UK

"These kinds of sessions are very helpful for youth like me who think and who are deep into Sikhism or feel that they are religious, but when it comes to the knowledge about the birth and history of Sikhism they are illiterate. So I feel the sessions like this help me and some others to go back and study more about our history and ourselves. I have come to know the deeper meaning of guru and how we have to develop a relationship with guru by understanding the sabad and applying it in our lives while doing our usual chores. I feel I need to know more about our history and also to start the being proud of connecting with God or the effort. I will surely recommend these sessions to our youth and kids as we have to be proud of our religion and identify and accept the privilege we have in being the youngest and realistic religion."
– Jasmeet Kaur, Atlanta, GA

"The Sikh faith has appeared as a diverse and unique faith. Today I had the opportunity to participate in a seminar of high intellectual intensity. Although I was only here for half of the lecture, it has showed and elucidated many confusing facets of my faith. It opened new and optimistic channels for me to expand in. The Mark of Excellence program thickened my understanding of the Sikhi religion and has made my explanations to other non-Sikhs more influential, effective and variable. This seminar was meticulously planned and was perfect in its ambience. It was knowledgeable with enough openness. The information mixed with presentation lead to an excellent and productive 8 hours. Thumbs Up!"
– Amitoj Singh, Happy Valley, Oregon

"I came to this event having thought in my mind to become a better Sikh and to find “Guru” within myself. This workshop by Mr. Harinder Singh was really beneficial in both and every aspect. He has not only helped me understand Sikhi and Guru, he has also helped to find that enlightenment within myself. The course which shapes around the basic thoughts and functionalities of Guru and Sikhism is really a nice venture and I would always be available to attend it anywhere and everywhere. I strongly recommend it to every Sikh and specially young kids to attend it and to be benefited from it. Thanks to Hardeep for inviting me and also thanks to Harinder Singh ji and Balmeet bro for every effort they put in."
– Manpreet Singh, San Jose, CA

This program has served as good reflection on married life. I have discovered few things where improvement is needed. The fact of the matter is you in your sub-conscious mind know however it need some catalytic action to bring those things in forefront. Looking life in future. How one would like to see themselves in another fifty years. IT was very good practical approach.

– Supinder Singh, Lodi, NJ

"I found this to be an excellent learning experience. The session was very informative in regards to engaging children, which I think is the key to keeping children interested in what they are learning and have fun at the same time. The suggestions on Sikh celebrations were very helpful so these days actually leave impressions on kids and teach the importance as well. The other section I enjoyed immensely was Ten Nanaks! One thought I learned a lot myself so I will be able to pass on these ideologies. "
– Parminder Sidhu, Carteret, NJ

"The training program was incredible. It is an impressive effort that reflects a profound love of Sikhi and manages to integrate the best of eastern and western approaches to Sikhi. Current methods are limited by language, materials, and united semsical mission. It is inspirational to see how the staff at SikhRI has developed resources to maximize the abilities of our children of Sikh population to grow. "
– Jaspal Singh, Durham, NC

"In one word “Awesome”, Informative, and I learnt a lot about basic stuff which I thought I knew, but I was mistaken. I will work on qualities that our 10 Gurus had and bring it into my life. Learnt the most important thing today, Gurdwara is not a “place of worship”, but a place for learning. I would highly recommend this training to all and would like to attend many more of these sessions in the near future. "
– Tejinder Kaur, Columbia, MD

“Children are our future and we must focus on them. Sikh Research Institute has wonderful programs for kids and NNJG-Jersey City conducted three of such programs last weekend. It was a gratifying experience. I was surprised and thrilled to see such a large participation from our Gurduara’s sangat. The parents have also been thanking me for organizing the kids workshops.”

Vidia

By being a part of this program, I feel a stronger sense of Sikh community & a strong desire to help one another. This has had a positive impact on me & motivated me to pursue my dreams with an open mind & not be boggled down with money & what others may think. It gives me a sigh of relief knowing if I ever need a mentor or I can help someone else, there is Vidia. - Anita Grewal, Surrey, BC

The program was very beneficial. First, I thought I would be a mentor but now I might be a mentee. The speakers were very knowledgeable. - Raman, Surrey, BC

Exposure to mentorship, showed how mentorship can work. Definitely recommend it. - Karanbir Bal, Surrey, BC

The Sikh Research Institute Vidia initiative is, in my opinion, an extremely important and very necessary program to have in our community. While I truly believe that one can acquire knowledge from anywhere, getting a perspective from someone who is in your own community and in your chosen field is invaluable. I will recommend this to my friends.  - Rana Singh, Surrey, BC

Very good, strongly support it, and will recommend it to others. It benefits both the mentor and mentee and will be very rewarding to both. I like the format and also strongly promote the idea of keeping money out of it and making it entirely volunteer. - Bill Hayer, Surrey, BC

Awesome and very well presented. Much needed in our community. I am so excited to be a mentee and possibly a mentor. Love it, like-minded people, where we want to evolve as individuals and be a benefactor to all. Very inspiring and educational. I would recommend this to students, children, parents, everyone. - Ranjit Kaur, Surrey, BC
