“It was one of the
most interactive and
knowledgeable events I have
ever attended. It wasn’t just
a lecture, it was an eyeopening
experience.”
    — Preet Singh,
         Los Angeles, CA

“This workshop was
like a Sikhi “booster shot!”
It was really inspiring
and motivating—a great
springboard to individual
exploration and study of His
Bani. Approaching Guru
Granth Sahib in this way
is a total proof that it is our
LIVING GURU. I would
definitely recommend this
program to others. Wish they
were more frequent.”
    — Manjyot Kaur,
         New York, NY

“The event has made me
realize that not everything is
going to be given to me on a
plate. I have to help myself
to understand Sikhi and connect
with the Guru. I have realized
that we all have to learn to think
out side the box and a little bit
more un-conventionally. We do
have to think and use our minds
and knowledge to do the
right things. Our thinking should
be just and as we said we
should be rebels with a cause.
Thank you very much for giving
me the knowledge to think
differently.”

        Glasgow, Scotland

Saneha: Becoming Guru-Centered

Saneha is a series of lectures, presentations, and workshops that are delivered as personal and/or community development sessions. Session content is designed with the aim of fostering Sikh values based on Gurmat traditions of Sikh scripture, history, and discipline. Other universal principles that resonant with the message of the Sikh faith are also incorporated to achieve a more holistic approach. Each Saneha workshop provides an opportunity for participants to ask questions and arrive at answers through discussion and interpretation.

Saneha sessions are taught by a wide variety of instructors who are involved with SikhRI either as staff or as board members. Jasmine Kaur, Harinder Singh, Inderpreet Singh, Kulvir Singh Gill and Mandhir Singh are all involved in a fairly regular rotation of presentations, bringing their experiences in the professional world, as well as their involvements with nonprofit and activist organizations to bear in their teaching.
In the last year, SikhRI has moved the Grihast couples retreat under the Saneha programming. There are also a variety of theme-oriented sessions are offered for emerging community leaders, namely high school and college students and young professionals, and are tailored to specific local community needs.

Saneha Themes

Many local communities have opted to offer Saneha as an on-going series. Although workshops can be specifically developed for a particular need or audience, themes from past Saneha events conducted globally have included:
