The Widow Colony

  Delivering Strategic Solutions

Complex key challenges exist in all communities. The Sikh community’s key challenges in particular require thoughtful study and examination. The Institute is presently engaged in proactive research and analysis in order to present relevant, long-term solutions, an effort grounded in the commitment to facilitate solutions as part of the community-at-large. Currently the Sikh Research Institute is able to develop and sponsor one major project a year. The project must address a challenge which affects the global Sikh community, and during the selection process, each project proposal is rigorously studied and researched for specific success criteria. All projects must demonstrate the potential for impact prior to selection.

Projects taken on as part of Strategic Solutions are funded solely through donations, and therefore, ultimately, sponsorship is determined by community response in the form of volunteer support and funding. In 2004, the Sikh Research Institute took on the Gurmat & Pañjabī School System project. A film entitled The Widow Colony was selected for 2005.
