Sidak is a space to think critically about everything we do and about the world around us, just as the Gurus did. I appreciated this approach to Sikhi that is non-dogmatic, non-preachy, and non judgmental.”

Are you looking for just this sort of space in your life? Somewhere to explore your relationship to Sikhi, develop leadership skills and hone critical thinking abilities?

Sidak would be perfect for you! 25 June through 9 July in San Antonio. Start an application today!

The first choice you’ll be asked to make is to select one of three tracks to focus your classroom studies at Sidak on: Sikhi 101, Sikhi 201 or Gurmukhi 101.... How to decide?

Sikhi 101 is a great place to start if you’re looking to build your knowledge of Sikh history and theology. Classroom sessions are dedicated to Guru Granth Sahib, Guru Khalsa Panth, Bhai Gurdas & Bhai Nand Lal, Asa Ki Var and lessons bringing context in from contemporary Sikh history.

Sikhi 201 is a continuation of 101, but with a more rigorous classroom environment and an emphasis on developing critical thinking skills. Sikhi 201 curriculum covers Sikh Rahit Maryada, Sikh Traditions & Ideology, Interpreters of Sikh thought, as well as current topics like Sikh Homeland & the Sikh Diaspora and Sovereignty & 1984.

Gurmukhi 101 is the place to build your language skills working with a patient, passionate instructor. It’s alright if you need to start with the very basics, Gurmukhi 101 is perfect for all skill levels! You will spend your weeks immersed in lessons on pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, writing and language systems.

Still not quite sure?
We’d be happy to put you in touch with Sidak alumni from any of the tracks

They would love to answer your questions and let you know about their own experiences so you can be confident in choosing the track that’s just right for you!
