Vaisakhi
 Celebrating Vaisakhi
During the month of April, SikhRI contributed to numerous events celebrating Vaisakhi. Chief Programming Officer Harinder Singh wrote "One Panth", exploring the history of the celebration and inviting contemporary reflection. The piece was published on sikhchic.
On 14 April, Harinder Singh facilitated a presentation for the Guru Nanak Foundation of Greater Cleveland in the city of Richfield, Ohio. Some 100 people attended the presentation, which explored depictions of Vaisakhi in Guru Granth Sahib, the role of Khalsa as revolutionary seeking justice and the Nash Doctrine. On 18 April Harinder Singh iterated a similar presentation for an audience of 400 in Lawrenceville, NJ. The event was hosted by the Sikh Sabha of New Jersey.
On 17 April, SikhRI attended a Vaisakhi Parade in Port Reading, NJ where Harinder Singh was the keynote speaker for the event. He addressed the crowd of nearly 2000 at the celebration, returning to the topic of "One Panth". He emphasized the connections of the past to the present and the responsibility of Sikhs everywhere to fight racist and castist behavior and to refuse to comply with religious and political powers who use their dominance to discriminate and subjugate their followers.
Also on 17 April, Jasdeep Walha interviewed Harinder Singh on the personal significance of Vaisakhi in his own life. The interview aired on OMNI TV which was broadcast in Ontario and the surrounding areas.
On the Sikh Educator's Network blog, several educators weighed in about their classroom experiences celebrating Vaisakhi with their students.
