Sidak 2010
 Adventure Awaits--Register Today! We are currently accepting applications for Sidak 2010. The two-week long program, will be held in the Hill Country of San Antonio, Texas, from August 1-15. This intensive, rewarding leadership development program that offers participants three tracks to chose from when they register: Sikhi 101, Sikhi 201 and Gurmukhi 101. All classes are led by talented, passionate instructors and activities outside of the classroom allow students to relax with each other and form bonds which will serve them long after the last day of Sidak is over.

 Spotlight: Harinder Singh Harinder Singh has stepped into a new role at SikhRI as Chief Programming Officer (CPO). Harinder is one of the founders of SikhRI and had formerly served as the Executive Director. As SikhRI evolves from its humble roots into a mid-level organization, transitions of this sort are in order to better serve our community to best of our abilities.
As Chief Programming Office, Harinder will handle SikhRI's events presence and serve as a point of contact for all wishing to coordinate or collaborate on events through SikhRI's Global Awareness initiative and many of our offerings under Training and Development.

India Tour
 Connecting with Panjabis and Delhites From 28 February - 11 March, 2010, Harinder Singh toured several cities of India on a circuit of presentations and lectures on various topics. Topics included the tensions of balancing modern life with the expectations of classical Sikh teachings, advice for running a successful NGO, goals for researchers and scholars of Sikhi and the Panjab state, and avenues to facilitate inter-generational discussion of the Sikh traditions and lifestyle.
Harinder spoke in Delhi, Amritsar and Chandigarh at colleges, museum and cultural & literary centers. Please read the full text of the press release here.

Sikholars
 Sikhs in the World On 20 February the Sikholars Graduate Student Conference met at Stanford University in California. The conference was an effort to bring together graduate students from a broad geographic scope to discuss their areas of research and how their work and collaborations could be used to best advance Sikh community's general welfare.
Harinder Singh, SikhRI's CPO, kicked off the day's presentations by discussing the root of academic scholarship in Gurbani and the history of Sikh intellectuals in their communities. Some 80 members of the public attended and the event was considered a huge success by organizers and participants alike.

Sojhi

Teacher Trainings Over the weekend of 27-28 February, members of the SikhRI education team were in Connecticut, USA. They held two teacher training sessions, for Level I and II use of Sojhi curriculum. SikhRI Director of Education Jasmine Kaur also facilitated a highly interactive workshop for children on Getting to Know Vaiguru. Sojhi curriculum is currently available for grades Kindergarten through Eighth. There are a variety of options available for schools of all different sizes. Please learn more about SikhRI's Strategic Solutions, the process of developing the Sojhi curriculum and what we have available that is right for you!
Sikh Educators Network The weekend was also an opportunity to promote the newly launched Sikh Educators Network. The Network provides free resources for use in the classroom and for educators who are designing their own activities. Registration is free and SikhRI encourages instructors all over the world to check out the site, see what is available, and part of the network of passionate Sikh educators today. In the first month, we already have more than 50 registered members and we are looking to bring those numbers up significantly. New materials will be available soon, so if you are already a member- don't forget to check back often!

Position: Executive Director The Sikh Research Institute (SikhRI) is a 501(c)(3) educational nonprofit organization seeking to develop a principle-driven community by protecting the core values and enlarging the resource pool. SikhRI’s mission is to facilitate training and development while inspiring Sikh values, create global awareness of Sikhi, and deliver strategic solutions to the key challenges faced by the Sikh community. SikhRI is currently seeking to fill the position of an Executive Director. The successful candidate will lead SikhRI and be responsible for providing direction to the staff. The primary task will be raising funds (70%) followed by administration (30%). S/he will work closely with the Board and the Chief Programming Officer to further the mission of SikhRI. Annual salary range will commensurate with experience. Benefits include vacation, holidays, sick days and insurance (medical, LTD, STD, Life & Accidental).
