A SIKHing Experience in OH
On 12 May, Harinder Singh and Inni Kaur presented a day of workshops for about 100 people who came together in Columbus, Ohio, at the Guru Nanak Religious Society.
There was something for every age group that day--young children could enjoy a Saakhi and later decorate and plant a flower pot as a fun spring time craft. In the afternoon, for older children, there was a "Getting to Know Vahiguru" workshop in the afternoon with Inni Kaur. There was also a presentation for teens which Harinder Singh led, urging them to drawing from sources of strength while navigating today's world as a Sikh youth. Later in the afternoon he taught another presentation especially for couples on building strong families called "Grihast: The Sikh Perspective on Relationships."
Later that evening, the entire sangat came together for a presentation by Harinder Singh tailored to the Ohio Area on "Sikhi 20/20" which outlines a vision for local, national, and international cooperation and progress as a community in the coming decade.
The next morning, for Mother's Day, Harinder Singh spoke on "Ma: Catalyst for Life" to an audience of about 50, which moved through topics such as: Gurmat & World traditions, from Biological to Spiritual, "Mothers in My Life," and "What’s needed in 2012." You can watch footage of this talk on SikhRI's Vimeo channel, thanks to a volunteer camera operator in the audience.
