Liv Webinars

2012 has already been a busy year of new Liv webinars. On 21 January, Inderpreet Singh presented the "Riddle of the Royal Seal," which discussed Mudavani Mahala 5, a sabad often termed "the essence of Guru Granth Sahib." Intriguingly the message is further revealed in enigmatic language which is variously described as a riddle of the royal seal, depending on the multiple interpretations by different schools. One hundred and two people attended the presentation. If you weren't able to catch The Riddle of the Royal Seal last month, you can watch a recording of the webinar here.
On 18 February, Jasmine Kaur presented a webinar for families with young children: "Friends of the Gurus." This lively, interactive discussion, which was attended by 122 people, asked: what qualities are important to have in our friends? What qualities did the Gurus think were important? Who were the Guru's friends? You can watch the recording of "Friends of the Gurus" on SikhRI's Vimeo channel if you weren't able to attend.
Our next Liv webinar, "Dharam: Is Sikhi a Religion?" with Ravinder Singh is scheduled for 3 March at noon EST. You can read more about the presentation and register today, free of cost, at this link: http://www.sikhri.org/download/Liv%20Webinar-Ravinder%20Singh%20Taneja-Mar%2012.pdf?inline

Jus Panjabi Interview

On 1 February, Harinder Singh did a phone-in interview with Harinder Singh Riar on the Muddha show, which aired on Jus Panjabi TV. The interview was a discussion of the censorship of the documentary film "Rise of the Khalsa," as the Indian Government claims that the film cannot be issued a permit because the animal in the film (a horse) was used "without permission."
Harinder Singh discussed the fallacy of this argument as "Rise of the Khalsa" is a documentary and so no permission should be necessary because nothing in the scene in question was staged. He also opened up discussion about the frustration Sikhs feel as this censorship seems to deny them a voice to show what champions Sikhs are for human rights in Asia.
